The Kilauea Pahoehoe vase.
The Kilauea Pahoehoe vase renders a kind of lava called “Pahoehoe”. Pahoehoe has a smooth, billowy, shimmery and/or ropey surface. Pahoehoe flow fields are often fed by a well-insulated underground tube system that carries the lava long distances and prevents it from cooling appreciably. This quality makes it have an infinite variety of textures and shapes.
