“The Kalo (Taro) Vessel”

Blown – Carved – Glass / 12 ”h x 13” w approx.

The Kalo Leaf’s immense scale is impressive not only in it’s size, but also in it’s significance as a culturally sustainable plant of the polynesians that settled Hawaii.

Taro came to Hawai`i Nei with the earliest Polynesian settlers in their canoes and has been cultivated as a staple and staff of life from ancient times.  Kalo is believed to have the greatest life force of all foods.

Hawaii’s infinite beauty and rich culture is the muse and source of inspiration for Daniel’s vessels and sculptures.
